Shakepeare

My next class begins Tuesday, September 4. It’s a Lit class devoted to Shakespeare. I have to say, I’m excited beyond measure. Yes, I know – I’m a nerd.
The instructor, Brian, seems very cool. I always enjoy classes where the instructor doesn’t place him or herself too much above the adult students he or she is teaching. Of course they know more about the subject than we usually do, which is why they’re teaching and we’re paying to learn from them. However, I’m too old to feel like a second grade school girl worrying about stepping out of line in class. This is precisely why I prefer instructors who feel, to some degree, that they are peers with knowledge to share and not superior intellectuals to be bowed down to.
In this particular case, the instructor is already making efforts to make the class fun and entertaining, such as podcasts instead of long written lectures (I’m an online student). We’ll be reading and discussing four of Shakespeare’s plays over the course of eight weeks. The first is A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
